Iris Appoints Charlotte Bruton as Director of Innovation - AI & Tech Leadership (2025)

Get ready for a thrilling journey into the world of creativity and technology! Iris, the global creative micro-network, has made a bold move by appointing Charlotte Bruton as their new Director of Innovation, AI, and Technology. But here's where it gets interesting...

This newly crafted role is all about uniting innovation and technology under one visionary leader, Charlotte. Her mission? To accelerate Iris' creative and technical prowess like never before.

"I'm absolutely buzzing to join Iris at this pivotal moment," Charlotte shares with us. "Returning to my hometown and collaborating with the team feels like I'm riding the wave of momentum just as it's building. 2026 is shaping up to be a landmark year, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it."

What drew Charlotte to Iris? Their unique, outsider mindset. "Iris' work has always been fearless and innovative," she explains. "It's not about fitting into boxes; it's about creating culture, moving through communities, and connecting with people in unexpected, meaningful ways. That's where the magic happens - in the messy middle where technology, creativity, and culture collide."

And this is where Charlotte's expertise comes into play. As a leading futurist and business strategist, she specializes in understanding how emerging technologies like AI, AR, and VR are transforming communications and business. With over 20 years of experience in advertising and digital marketing, Charlotte has a proven track record in strategic planning, managing large-scale technical projects, and delivering exceptional results.

Her work spans predictive analytics, generative AI systems, and mixed-reality experiences. Take, for instance, Samsung's "Clash of the Commuters" Fortnite campaign and the "Flipversing" activation for Galaxy Flip4 - both recognized for turning emerging technology into engaging, participative creative platforms.

Reporting to Menno Kluin, Iris' Global Chief Creative Officer, Charlotte will oversee the agency's innovation agenda. From AI adoption and emerging-tech strategy to rapid prototyping and creative showcases, she'll be at the forefront of driving Iris' creative and technical capabilities.

"To me, this structure says it all - technology in service of creativity," Charlotte emphasizes. "It's a natural partnership. I've spent my career building bridges between technology and creativity because engineers and technologists are some of the most imaginative, creative people out there. For 20 years, I've advocated for creative technology as an integral part of the idea-making process, not an afterthought."

We're standing on the brink of an incredible AI era, where creativity and technology can finally move in perfect harmony. But what sets Iris apart, according to Charlotte, is that even as they embrace innovation, their work remains distinctly human. It's people-centric, emotion-led, and deeply rooted in culture.

"When real people, creative minds, and technologists come together, experiment, prototype, and push ideas to their limits, that's where the real transformation happens. That's where innovation becomes impactful."

Charlotte's appointment follows two other senior additions to Iris' leadership team earlier this year. Erika Van Den Berg joined as Commercial Partner, bringing over 16 years of client finance and commercial leadership experience. Pumie Msengana joined as Managing Partner, strengthening Iris' client leadership and operational excellence. Together, these appointments showcase Iris' commitment to diverse leadership and innovation excellence as they build momentum around their "Participate or Perish" proposition - helping brands create meaningful participation in culture.

Zoe Eagle, CEO of Iris London, sums it up perfectly: "Charlotte is an idea-oriented, creatively ambitious, and true team player. Her unique combination of vision and tenacity is rare and exciting, and she'll be instrumental in taking our creative game to new heights. She embodies the spirit of our "Participate or Perish" proposition by harnessing bleeding-edge technology to reimagine what's possible for brands participating in culture."

And Charlotte is equally passionate about her new role: "I'm a strong advocate for technology that makes a positive impact. Whether it's improving efficiency for clients, developing products that enhance people's lives, or simply creating joyful digital experiences, innovation should excite. My goal is to bring that sense of thrill to every brief and every client, using AI not just for automation or prediction but as a tool to unlock unconventional, surprising creativity."

Iris' call to arms, "Participate or Perish," captures this spirit perfectly, and Charlotte is ready to lead the charge.

What do you think? Is this a bold step forward for Iris, or do you see potential challenges? We'd love to hear your thoughts in the comments!
